Getting to Know Sandown, New Hampshire

The wonderful thing we all love about New Hampshire is that there are so many options for choosing where to live, depending on your lifestyle preferences and the vibe you’re looking for. We’ve told you about the advantages of making Manchester your home, or any of the communities that might be considered suburbs of the state’s largest city, such as Bedford, Londonderry, Hooksett, and Goffstown. But if you love the idea of a home off the beaten path while still being able to appreciate all that New Hampshire has to offer, then a town like Sandown might be the perfect place.

Sandown is a quiet town surrounded by nature, but still provides easy access to the highways that will take you north to the lakes and mountains, south to Boston, or east to the Seacoast. A half hour is all it takes to get to the beach on many summer days. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is about 30 minutes away, convenient for jetting off for vacation or business travel.

We think Sandown is the best of two worlds: a rural retreat from the bustle of larger towns and cities without going off the grid. With a population of about 6,500 as of 2020, Sandown is proud of its colonial New England history and close-knit, friendly community. The town hosts events for families throughout the year, including Old Home Day and Oktoberfest, and activities such as sports leagues for kids and adults.

There are plenty of things to do in town for recreation and entertainment. Enjoy the Sandlot’s private beach club on Sandy Pond, sign the kids up for summer camp, or rent out the facility for your next big party. Wason Pond in nearby Chester is a great dog-friendly spot for walking trails, fishing and swimming. Zorvino Vineyards is a family-owned business set on dozens of beautiful acres, where couples and friends can enjoy a night out, for wine tastings and tours, dinner, or any of their special events scheduled all year long.

Consider getting to know Sandown for yourself! Let us know if you’re as charmed as we are by the history, unique downtown, and friendly residents. Then come take a peek at our new community getting ready to build there so you can call it home, too.
